Submissions General Overview. Unlike many magazines, Creative Nonfiction draws heavily from unsolicited submissions. Our editors believe that providing a platform for emerging writers and helping them find readers is an essential role of literary magazines, and it’s been our privilege to work with many fine writers early in their careers.
SUBMISSION PROCESS. Work should be submitted either via Submittable or by email. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please do not duplicate material. While we try to respond to every submitter, the volume of submissions we receive means that it is not always possible to contact each writer individually.
The Atlantic is always interested in great nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. A general familiarity with what we have published in the past is the best guide to what we're looking for. All manuscripts should be submitted as a Word document or PDF. Succinct pitches may be submitted in the body of an e-mail. To submit fiction, send your manuscript.
